Our history

It’s all about challenging imaginations!

KAPI was born out of the desire to create an opening towards the New African Cuisine. Where African ingredients and inspiration meet contemporary lifestyles. It is the brainchild of Sarah, a curious soul with one foot on the African continent, born in the DR Congo, and one foot on the European continent, living in Belgium.

Her deep interest in food culture and food security amidst climate challenges inspired her to seek out innovative African ingredients with the potential to make a difference in the future of food across the globe. Using them in KAPI food experiences aims at breaking boundaries, celebrating African heritage and its future, while putting an end to the fear and mystery surrounding it.

KAPI, a name from the vibrant Luba tribe of DR Congo, is an ode to the women in her family, whose genuine dedication to empowering others through knowledge and education inspired her project.
